17 March 2008, OECD Conference Centre Paris

Further fundamental structural reforms in labour and product markets are needed to boost jobs, productivity and prosperity in Europe, notwithstanding significant progress to date. This one-day conference, jointly organised by the IMF and OECD, identifies priorities for further action and addresses related political economy issues.

The speakers include economic policy-makers, academics, entrepreneurs and union representatives. Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, and Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Managing Director of the IMF, will both give keynote addresses. Among other participants will be European Union Commissioner Joaquín Almunia, Sweden's Employment Minister Sven Otto Littorin, former EU Commissioner Frits Bolkestein, and two former prime ministers: Mikuláš Dzurinda of the Slovak Republic and Poul Nyrup Rasmussen of Denmark.
